How's your allotment?
How is your allotment doing?.
My peas have failed, i really struggle with peas, i don't think i give enough attention to their growing conditions. I tried the gutter method last year but that was a pain having to transport to allotment. potatoes doing great, Maris Peer & Cara. Broad beans a success this year as blackfly have ruined in previous years. Runners looking good. carrots ok, lettuce, spring onions, radish also. Onions a few going to seed but harvesting now Autumn sown ones. Pumpkins and courgettes coming along. Garlic nearly ready. Cabbage and Broccoli well protected this year. The Sloworm family happily living in compost bin. G |

Could you try smaller bits of gutter? My grandad uses that method and swears by it.

I have only some red or white currants. (Not Sure as old plot neighbour said i could put them on mine when she gave hers up). So shall wait and see.
At home i have rhubarb, gooseberries, and strawberries. Would love raspberries though. That is Autumn to do i think. G |

Today, i am about to leave home to do something very interesting. I know one allotment holder who is hybridising a green tulip on his plot and another who has an informal tortoise sanctuary. After this impressive flowering it dies, but not before scattering its seeds like somebody.
