Cherry tree failed, need help

Hi,I know this is a couple of yrs old,just wanted to know if it came back to life.I planted a cherry tree in Nov and the same thing has happened.Mines in the ground though.Just wanted to know what happened to it.

Afraid the original died off completely, however wife insisted we got another and that is doing well, it doesnt get much water, just a light damping every night and this one seems a lot happier
