From pool to garden

So because I barely use my pool in the backyard anymore, it was becoming too costly to maintain it. I recently decided to drain the pool, and create a garden out of the ditch. I have researched a bit of the ways to design the garden, and basically, you can use tents and create a little irrigation system...almost like a greenhouse!

What other interesting pool-to-garden designs are there?

Do you mean a swimming pool? I have never heard of anyone getting rid of one. Couldn't you turn it into a pond instead?

That would be a big pond, Val! Our neighbour got rid of his swimming pool about 10 years ago. He filled in the hole with a lot of soil, and then laid turf and made flower beds where it had been.

A lake then, Kits. It does rather depend on how large a swimming pool it is, it could be partly filled in, if very deep & planted with water plants.

I think its a good idea to develop a garden over pool, if sunshine is directly comes on pool surface then it will became a perfect garden, just you have to hire some professionals for this work.

I think that it doesn't make sense to replace a pool with the garden. Don't you have any other spare space available?

I think it's a good idea provided your pool isn't that large. You can also fill it with water plants and create an ambiance. I am sure if you consult any landscape designers they will give you many ideas to incorporate this pool in your backyard garden. You can also build an outdoor living space around the pool where you and your family can spend a quality time. Or maybe an outdoor kitchen to hold barbecue parties. So consult with a professional before you decide on anything.
