Garden irrigation system

I am putting in a system to the water garden. want to tap into the main line off of the well pump or hose bib on side of the house. I have 46 psi at the pressure tank. I'm going to T it, put a reducer to 3/4 inch since this is the brass garden valve sizes I'm finding. I'm familiar with the PVC to copper transition pieces.
My only question is what is the best material pipe to use out of the ground between the irrigation main line and the brass spigot? I understand PVC is not meant for above ground in the sun.
So my assumption is copper. But the plumber told me that the copper pipes at Home Depot that are sold in short lengths like 2 feet seem to have a very thin thickness to their walls. I fear they could easily be damaged. Should I use copper? Can I find it thicker and yet in short lengths? Are there no pipes of brass, with thick walls like the brass fittings?

Thanks

Welcome to Gardner's Forum from Admin and the Moderators, Benjamin.

I can't help with your question, but maybe you could ask the plumber for some advice? I am not aware of what is available in Canada. Good luck.

Benjamin..Did you find a solution for this? Was thinking of changing the current system and I'd like to know what to do if I find myself in this.

I would make the 45' runs 3/4" pipe. PVC or polyethylene. Poly would offer better freeze protection.
Blu-lock is great, but with only three lines and these sprinklers in not sure it's worth it. I used it to save time on a bigger project. My friend wants to challenge me to a pipe laying contest gluing vs push fittings, but I'm confident it's considerably faster for the layman. Fittings and considerably more expensive.

I Had a company fit out my yard with a sprinkler system many years ago as I got fed up hauling hoses around and they really did not do a satisfactory job. I have a big property and there are six stations with four sprinkler heads at each which are set to spray certain areas. It is on a timer and you can set it to any time of day or area which might require additional watering. Works well but I have the company come in the fall and blow all the lines clear of water so they don't freeze up in the winter which in this part of Canada is bloody cold. They also come in the spring to check the system and repair heads if required.
