What is this red,trumpet shaped; seen on Starved Rock Illinois trail.

What is this red,trumpet shaped flower; seen in September on a trail at Starved Rock State Park, Illinois.

Hi, I think your plant is an Impatiens species. In the uk they can be an ornamental summer bedding plant but some species are very invasive and are causing problems in the wilder environment to our native plants.

Thank you!

Given your suggestion, in searching for images of impatiens, I came on impatiens gomphophylla. So then searching for specifically that appears to confirm it.
