Cauliflower problem

I am posing this question on behalf of a friend who lives in Michigan. She planted cauliflowers out a few weeks ago and everything seemed fine until a few days ago. One of the plants has decided to run off, producing long stems with yellow flowers and she is presuming it is going to seed.

Does anyone know why this has happened and why only one plant would have done this before producing the cauli?

Thanks!

Your friend just has a plant that's going to seed & no cauliflower, two years ago I planted 6 cabbage, 5 produced heads of cabbage and one cabbage plant went to long stems only and then went to seed only.

Could it have been a rogue seed perhaps? Possibly a rape seed got mixed in by mistake.

That's a good point, Dave. I will mention that to her as well. Thanks!
