Broad Beans & Sprouts

I'm having my first go at Broad Beans and Sprouts this year, I have the seedlings in pots and have been hardening them off over the past fortnight.

I plan to plant them out this weekend in the garden and wondered if there any tips I should be aware of?

Cheers

Gary.

I've not grown sprouts, but have done broad beans. No particular tips apart from making sure they are well watered and fed once a week. Good luck!

Make sure you firm in your sprout plants, and then 'puddle' them in (use your heel to firm the soil around them and fill the resulting hollows with water). They prefer very firm ground or can end up producing 'blowers' ( sprouts that are loose instead of being very firm). Also, protect them from your local wood pigeons, otherwise they will strip them of leaves within 24 hours.

Cheers.

I do have a lot of wood pigeons in the garden so that is useful to know.

Fingers crossed for a good summer of growing.
