There's an odd colouration on lower tomato leaves...

Hi there,

I have my cherry tomatoes setting a fair amount of fruit at the moment.

But I've recently seen the lower few leaves developing some deep yellow spotting and some small brown specks.

Can anyone help identify it from the photo?

Hopefully, if it's malevolent, then something can be done before some bad ju-ju descends on the matto's!

Thanks in advance

Hi Andymac, two possibilities:

1. Nutrient deficinecy, most probably magnesium.

2. Tomato leaf mould (

In both cases as long as only older/lower leaves affected, should not cause any problems.

Hi Dave,

cheers for the tips, I lost my connection for a few days there.

I had a look with the leaf mould in mind and didn't see any mouldish looking stuff on the underside of the affected leaves.

I've given them a little Magnesium feed as a wee booster for them.
The plants are reasonably healthy otherwise, but you know how it is, forewarned is forearmed!
