Smile How common is Common Bistort?

Hi all.
Today whilst driving along a narrow lane, I came upon a mass of Common Bistort, not daffodils! They looked beautiful…. But I’ve never seen them before, not where I live, south Wales. So just how common are they?

I don't think I've ever seen any, Peter. Pretty plant.
Inch by inch, row by row, gonna make this garden grow.
All it takes is a rake and a hoe and a piece of fertile ground
Inch by inch, row by row, Someone bless the seeds I sow.
Someone warm them from below, 'til the rain comes tumbling down.

I have seen them around here, but having looked them up on the net, they are not common in Wales or Scotland. A very pretty plant.

Where flowers bloom so does hope.

I've got this plant, had to buy it online as couldn't find one in the garden centres. Its very beautiful and bees love it. It loves damp conditions and is a good bog plant. There is also a variety that can be planted in a pond.

Common Bistort , is a small wildflower native to Europe. It grows on moist soils as a wildflower throughout the centeral regions of the continent.
